Q: How much is admission?
A: Admission is $15 for regular tickets, and $20 for VIP tickets which means you go to the front of the line at the haunt itself. If you buy a VIP ticket you will still have to wait your turn to get on the tractor, however once you arrive at the actual haunt you may proceed to the gold roped VIP line next to the regular line. Also, VIP ticketing has become fairly standard practice in the haunt industry, if you choose not to purchase a VIP ticket please do not complain about the long lines.
Q: $15 for regular tickets and $20 for VIP? That seems like alot, what gives?
A: Actually if you check around, we are and have been the cheapest haunt in town by about 5 dollars. We also offer free parking which is pretty much unheard of anywhere else. For that price you're also not just getting a haunt, but you're also getting a tractor ride and a scary corn maze as well. While the tractor ride may just be mainly for transportation, some people do enjoy that aspect of it.
Q: Do you have online tickets available?
A: We do! Just go here to purchase and skip the ticket line:

Q: How much is parking?
A: Parking is free.
Q: Where are we located?
A: We are located at 1859 walker road in Hilliard Ohio. There is a mapquest link on the "location" page.
Q: What hours are you open?
A: We are open Fridays and Saturdays in October from 8pm-midnight.
*UPDATE* We will be open both Friday and Saturday of Halloween weekend, instead of just Saturday as originally scheduled.
**Please do not arrive 10 minutes prior to closing time or you might be turned away. It takes a little while to get people loaded onto a tractor, get them driven to the trail, let them walk through the corn maze, go through the trail and get driven back up front, so we ask that you take this into consideration. If you are coming from out of town or aren't able to make it out until late you may want to call and either let someone at the barn know you are coming or ask if the trail will still be open by the time you arrive.**
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We take cash and credit card only, sorry no checks.
Q: Are there any discounts or coupons?
A: coming soon...
Q: What about group discounts?
A: Right now I think it depends on the situation. If you have a large group (10 or more) and are curious about discounts, please email us a
info@trailoffears.com and we will get back to you a.s.a.p.
Q: What ages are appropriate?
A: We are appropriate for most children approx. age 12 or older. We do have some little ones come through and be ok with it, and sometimes they come and freak out the whole time. Our guides typically carry flashlights, if this happens they will shine the light on the monsters which will make them stop what they are doing so younger kids aren't so scared to go through. In the future we are looking into doing a family night or lights on tour as well.
Q: Is it scary?
A: Well, we hope so, otherwise we aren't doing our jobs. It would be unfair for me to give my opinion here since I'm biased, but I can say that we've gotten alot of great feedback, and we hear screams all night like almost like clockwork.
Q: Are pictures allowed in the haunt?
A: No, we do not allow pictures or video.
Q: What about cell phones?
A: We ask that you keep your cell phone in your pockets at all times once you enter the trail. The light from a cell phone can ruin a scene, and carrying a conversation while you are walking through is just plain rude to us and to the rest of your group.
Q: Will the monsters touch us?
A: No, we do not touch at Trail of Fears. Please do not touch us, and we will not touch you.
Q: Why do we need a guide to go through with our group, why can't we just go in alone?
A: While we are aware that some people don't like the guide aspect, it is necessary to ensure people don't get lost, don't have problems while in the haunt, and don't mess with our props or actors or try to go off the trail and wander around. It also helps to keep a proper pace so that everything flows smoothly.
Q: How long is the wait time to get in?
A: Wait time can be as long as two hours or more on busy nights, so please remember to purchase a VIP ticket if you don't want to wait. Current wait times will be available at the ticket barn. Please keep in mind this is fairly standard in the haunt industry.
Q: What about the wait time for VIP tickets?
A: Typically the VIP line is much shorter, if there is one. If you buy VIP tickets please go to the front of the line or ask for assistance when you get to the trail and someone will get you where you need to be. YOU DO NOT NEED TO WAIT IN THE LINE IF YOU PURCHASED VIP TICKETS! Since we also have typically long lines of regular admission customers as well, we will have to integrate VIP's in with regular groups. In other words, there may be just a few groups ahead of you even with VIP tickets, but nothing that would be longer than 15 minutes or so at the most. Also, in order to keep everyone happy, if you have a large group of VIP's (5 or more) we may have to split your group up depending on how busy we are. We can't really have 5 large groups of VIP's just expect to all go in at once, you do get to skip the line, but we also have to let regular customers in as well and not just keep cutting them off.
Q: Why are there so many lines? I waited in line to buy tickets and to get on the tractor and then to go into the haunt!
A: We understand the frustration of waiting in line. However, the way it is set up currently we do not have a road or parking lot that leads directly to the trail, so we have to transport people back on tractor pulled wagons. We do provide a few scares and a scary corn maze in between the line at the barn and the line at the trail so that people have something to do in between. As pointed out above, we are offering online tickets this year as a way for cutomers to reduce some of the line-time. If you purchase a ticket online you can proceed directly to the tractor loading area, no need to wait in line to purchase a ticket if you already have one. One thing I should point out too, is that most haunts already have a ticket line and a line to go into the haunt, so really the only extra line with us is to be driven back to the actual forest.
Q: I waited in line for two hours and was then rushed through, what's up with that?
A: While we apologize for that occasionally happening, we are faced with two problems here: One is that we need to get people through quickly on busy nights so that the line doesn't take forever to go through (remember the whole "why so many lines" thing?), the other is trying to keep groups from running into each other. It is a very difficult balancing act, since no two groups go at the same pace, some like to stop and look around, etc...We have to keep people moving or else the line will be in exess of 4 hours nightly. We try not to yell at customers too much to keep moving, but sometimes they like to stop and look, sometimes they don't want to go forward into the next scene, etc, which can cause the group behind them to run into them, as well as taking longer for the next group to be let in at the entrance. While we do want everyone to enjoy our haunt, you have to keep in mind that your group is not the only group wanting to come through.
Q: Our group ran into another group midway through the trail, can't we do something about that?
A: We do try hard to keep groups from merging once they've entered, and it's frustrating to us as well because actors don't have time to get back in place. The problem, as stated in the previous answer as well, is that groups tend to walk at their own pace. Some shuffle along slowly, and some run through the whole thing. We are doing our best to prevent this from happening too often. We realize you are spending your hard earned money with us, and we want to give you the best show possible.
Q: Ok, enough about the long lines, is there a good time to come through when we can avoid the lines and the hassle?
A: Yes. Your best bet is to arrive around 7:30 and be one of the first few groups to go out.
Q: Is it outdoors?
A: Yes, we are outdoors. Please dress accordingly as we do not have the facilities to keep everyone warm while they wait.
Q: What is your rain policy?
A: We will try and keep an update on the website if it is raining that day as to whether or not we will be open. You can also call us at 614-876-2833 if you are unsure if we will be open or not.
Q: Where can I pick up some super-cool Trail of Fears merchandise?
A: Ok, so I'm hyping that one up a bit...all of our merchandise is available for purchase on location at Trail of Fears. Our merchandise stand will be right by the line to go through the trail after you get off the tractor. We have t-shirts, hoodies, magnets, stickers, lighters, ax and sledgehammer props and much more all for sale. Get them while supplies last!
Q: I came through last year, is it worth it to come through again?
A: Definitely, we have made multiple improvements since last year, and every year we strive to mix things up a little. We will never be the same exact haunt two years in a row.
Q: Are you hiring?
A: At the moment no, but that can always change. If you are interested in working or volunteering at Trail of Fears, please email us at
info@trailoffears.com with your name, age, and a contact number and we can put you on the waiting list. Also please list any experience you may have either in acting, haunting, makeup, etc.
Q: Last but not least, I had some suggestions on something for the future, or would like to see something done differently.
A: We are always open to suggestions. We try to do our best to make it an ejoyable experience for everyone, and we try to stay loyal to our customer base and listen to what you have to say about us. If there's anything you didn't like, or would like to see, or would like to see changed, whatever, let us know at
info@trailoffears.com We can't gaurantee we will be able to fulfill every request, but we will definately look at them and discuss whether anything can be done or not.
